Free Indeed: Part I

Freedom, freedom, freedom, doesn’t that sound sweet? Freedom is amazing and it’s priceless. Freedom is greatly sought after by the big, small, rich, and the poor. There are those who are physically without freedom by being held bound in chains and those who are mentally experiencing bondage and oppression . Let’s talk about the mentally bound for a second. Have you ever seen an animal that’s been locked in a cage for so long, that when the cage is finally left opened, the animal doesn’t even think about stepping outside of the cage into freedom? That is kind of what being bound and oppressed in your mind is like. You could be physically free while experiencing bondage in your mind.  If that’s the case for you, there is hope. I want to let you know that today, can be the start of your new journey of walking in freedom. You may be thinking, “I’m with you, but where do I start?.” Don’t worry there’s more. The first step to experiencing true freedom is discovering Jesus Christ he has the authority to set the captives free and open the prison doors, just take a look for yourself. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭ASV‬‬. Jesus, the Son of God,  has the power to free you mentally and physically. “If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed ” (John‬ ‭8:36‬ ‭ASV‬‬). Next, just believe it’s just that simple.  “What  should I believe?” We’ll, I’m glad you asked. “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach: because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:8-10‬ ‭ASV.  In the previous verses we learned that receiving salvation from Jesus is as simple as confessing him as your lord and believing that God raised him from the dead.‬‬ Next, let’s examine the previously stated verse Romans 10:10. What does it mean to believe unto righteousness? Well, you must understand that due to the sinful nature of man none of us are naturally just or righteous. “as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;”‭‭ Romans‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭ASV‬‬. Howeverthere is hope, God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and make us righteous by his own righteousness. Here’s the evidence, “Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭ASV‬‬.  There you have it, you’re righteous not because of your on righteousness but because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Here are a few more verses on righteousness to help you. “even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans‬ ‭3:22-24‬ ‭ASV‬‬
